The search for a new general manager for the Public Service Commission of Yazoo City has been placed on hold temporarily.
The current director, Jimmy Wever, who is expecting to retire next June, said that the hiring process will resume in March 2018.
"I don't think we'll have a problem finding somebody who is capable or knowledgeable who can take over," said Wever.
Wever added that the job posting gathered 26 applicants from all over the United States. The list has since narrowed down to two different candidates, for the position of general manager. Whoever is chosen will be trained for at least three months before stepping into the leadership role.
The requirements for the job not only encompass the ability to manage the output and operations of electricity, water, and sewage city-wide, but also to work with the public, and to meet with the city council.
Wever mentioned that another requirement for the position is that candidates must have at least seven years of experience managing utilities of this nature.
