This fall, two Benton Academy graduates will be on the sidelines cheering for the Southeastern Conference Mississippi State University Bulldogs. Logan Anderson and Nolan Whitworth were recently chosen as members of the 2019-2020 cheer squad. After a grueling 2 day try-out process and 2 series of cuts, they knew they had it made.&nbsp

Man charged with murdering his uncle

A man has been charged with murder in connection to a Benton man who died last week after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest.
Danny Harris, 29, was charged with murder for allegedly shooting his uncle, 43-year-old Timothy Clarence Wade III, in the chest with a .22 rifle last Thursday.

Visitation will be at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City Thursday, December 21 starting at 9:30 a.m.until the 11 a.m. graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery.
