Dispatcher charged in E911 robbery

A Yazoo County dispatcher was arrested this week in connection with the 911 dispatcher center robbery, which investigators said was an inside job.
Terrance Freeman, 27, was charged with accessory to armed robbery.

Dr. Arnold Smith, below, became wildly fixated on Lee Abraham, above -- an obsession that prosecutors claimed led to an unsuccessful assassination attempt on the Greenwood attorney in 2012. Smith has not had to face a criminal trial because of his mental illness and settled in 2019 a lawsuit filed by Abraham.

Robinson’s conviction is related to the 2015 slaying and gang-style execution of Tahiti Banks of Belzoni.

Search for the next county schools superintendent begins

The position of school superintendent is no longer an elected position, but will now be appointed by the county school board.
