The Benton Academy Raiders opened the 2025 Football season with a different look from last season.
A new coach roams the sidelines this season for the Raiders as Bryan Dendy returns to Benton Academy after a season at Humphreys Academy and several successful seasons prior to his stint at HA at Manchester Academy.

Entergy is going to build a new natural gas-fired generating plant for Amazon’s Canton Data Centers. Where? Not in my backyard, say people with nice backyards. So Entergy plans to hide the plant where you can’t “smell it, hear it, or see it.” The data center capital of the world is Virginia.

My foe has returned for another year

I was physically chased out of my home this morning. I can only hope my new neighbors do not think I am insane, but insanity was exactly what was happening inside my otherwise peaceful home.
While I was cleaning the kitchen before I headed into work, I was attacked by a vicious enemy; one that returns for battle every summer.

Middleton named as finalist for Ferriss Trophy

Yazoo County native and Southern Miss right-handed pitcher JB Middleton was named among the five finalists for the Ferris Trophy in an announcement by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame.
Middleton, a Benton Academy graduate, joins fellow Southern Miss baseball player, second baseman Nick Monistere, of Brandon, in the nomination.

Lady Raiders crowned the MAIS Class 2A North State Champions

The Lady Raiders secured the title with a 12-2 win over Canton Academy Monday.
