The 2022-2023 season came to an end for the Yazoo County Panthers in the opening round of the district tournament as they dropped a 46-31 decision to the Winona Tigers.
Winona jumped out to a 13-9 first quarter lead on the Panthers and added to that with a 7-4 second quarter to take a 20-13 lead into the halftime break.
Yazoo County seized the game’s momentum in the third period, outscoring the Tigers 14-13, but Winona resumed control of the game in the final frame and outscored the Panthers 13-4 down the stretch to seal the win.
Donavin Green was the only Panther to reach double digits with 13 points.
Breland Jones added five, Cameron Williams had four, Mike Brown, Chris Harris, Tre Bassett, and Derrick Parker each had two and Jaylan Shaffer rounded out the scoring with one.
