What specific powers does a president have? Who is the final authority of the armed forces? Let’s see! “The president shall be commander in chief of the army and navy of the United States, and of the militia of the several states, when called into the actual service of the United States...”
One does not have to be a Philadelphia lawyer to understand these words. They are simple and plain, yet the “deep state” thinks it is the commander of the armed forces. President Trump was harshly criticized by the Democrats in Congress and even some weak-kneed Republicans for withdrawing 50 troops from Syria.
The United States has been in the Middle East for nearly 20 years, and what have we done? We should have won the wars there in six months and brought our troops home. Some might even question why we were there in the first place, but staying there nearly 20 years and spending $8 trillion? I don’t believe one normal Mississippian would have said that this is a good idea.
But war is a profitable business. Fortunes can be made. Never mind that some middle class mothers and fathers have sent their sons and daughters to fight these wars.
Up until President Trump became the commander in chief, wounded and disabled veterans were not even given proper treatment. Although the Democrat Party professed to be anti-war, what did they do to bring the troops home?
The simple answer is nothing. Now they want our troops to stay in the Middle East forever. Why? Because they can rail against war, but make big bucks selling munitions to not only this country but to countries around the world.
Many former Democrats are waking up to the realization that the Democrat Party cares nothing for them. Their party has been in control for over 40 years, yet what have they actually done to help members of the Democrat Party? Oh, they talk a good game. They make promises every election year about what they are going to do for the poor, the infirmed, the minorities, and women, yet they do absolutely nothing to help these citizens. There motto is “Believe what I say, not what I do.”
But the “deep state” continues to fire every weapon it has at President Trump. If we can agree that the military complex is a member of the “swamp”, then we can understand to some extent why some retired officers are so anxious to impeach or defeat our duly elected president. William H. McRaven, a retired Navy admiral wrote in a New York Times opinion piece stating that the president should be impeached for withdrawing our American soldiers from Syria and the Middle East, something Trump promised when he was campaigning for president.
In part, McRaven wrote, “If our promises are meaningless, how will our allies ever trust us? If we can’t have faith in our nation’s principles, why would the men and women of this nation join the military?...if this president doesn’t understand their importance, if this president doesn’t demonstrate the leadership that America needs both domestically and abroad, then it is time for a new person in the Oval Office - Republican, Democrat or Independent - the sooner the better. The fate of our Republic depends on it.”
What is this deranged admiral saying? Is he advocating for a coup? Does he want the military to take over and surround the White House with tanks? No military officer, active or retired, should be allowed to say this against a sitting president. But McRaven is part of the “deep state,” and believe me, it cares nothing for you, your family, your sons and daughters.
The people in Washington care nothing for you. In fact, they think that you are too dumb to take care of yourself. The only person who has done anything for the middle class since Ronald Reagan is Donald Trump. Hispanic unemployment is the lowest it has been in 50 years. African-American unemployment is the lowest it has been in recorded history. Salaries have increased by over $5000.00. Under Obama and the Democrats, we were told that America’s best days were behind us. We had to adapt to high unemployment and low wages. But in 3 short years, Trump has blown that theory up.
Washington cares about Washington. They are the bright people. Their thinking is, “ If we have to fight a war to make some money, we don’t mind sending your son or daughter or your grandchildren into harms way. If they get killed, then we will make them a hero and send them a brass medal.” Thank God that Donald Trump is the commander in chief.
