When we think about disasters, what do we mean?
Do we think of a particularly destructive hurricane or the burning of an old growth forest?
Do we visualize the plastic bottles in the ocean, dumped by China, as a threat to ocean ecology?
Is carbon dioxide a future killer of the planet - something that the global warming crowd vehemently predicts?
When I think of disasters, I think of something more cataclysmic. The rock that crashed into the Yucatan is more of what I have in mind. Scientists believe that this six-mile high rock caused the extinction of the dinosaurs.
The fossil record tells us that once this event occurred, the dinosaurs lasted only a few short months, even though they had dominated the earth for millions of years. They could not overcome the consequences of this cataclysmic event.
Was this a good and useful event?
Well, yes and no.
It was extremely bad for the dinosaurs, but it was extremely helpful to man. Without this rock crashing into the earth when it did, man, you and I, would probably not exist.
Now with the dinosaurs dead, the earth became a place where man could not only survive, but prosper and multiply.
Which brings me to modern day America. The Democrats and the Republicans are engaged in a death match in Washington, and I wonder which party will destroy the other.
For many years the Democrats dominated Washington, and only the Lord knows how much corruption existed under their rule. Democrats of meager means were elected to Congress, and low and behold, when they finally left town, they were multi-millionaires.
The same was true with some Republicans. Year after year, the “swamp” regurgitated politicians who were now millionaires. But this was known and understood by the players, and soon it became a way of doing business and a way of life. Everyone was on the take. “Washington has lots of money, so come on up and help yourself to the taxpayers money,” seemed to be the rule.
But a cataclysmic event occurred in 2016. Donald J. Trump was elected President with a mandate from the American people to “drain the swamp.”
Remember now that Trump financed his own campaign. He is beholding to no one. This scares the pants off of swamp dwellers simply because they see their way of life coming to an end.
Now they may have to do real work for a living, and their family, who was also on the dole, will have to look elsewhere for real employment.
Think about the rock that hit the earth 65 million years ago, the rock that changed everything. Once this thing hit, I can imagine dust and rock being thrown miles into the air, and fires were everywhere. The smoke was so thick that a human would have suffocated almost immediately, and debris rained down from above for literally days.
Soon the dust blanketed the earth, and yes, the dinosaur became extinct.
In a sense, this is what is happening in Washington. Trump is the rock that has slammed into Washington, and the “swamp” dwellers are in panic mode.
There is only one course of action for the “swamp”dwellers, and that is to drive Trump from office. Get rid of him, and things will go back to normal. Drive him from office by any means necessary, but get the job done.
Never mind that Joe Biden used his office to ensure that Hunter Biden would never have to work a day in his life. Use taxpayer money to guarantee that Hunter makes his millions. Then “Sleepy” Joe had the temerity to brag about what he did. Joe may not know it, but it’s over.
But since the “rock” hit Washington, I am not surprised that things are the way they are. Great change requires a new way of doing things, and learning new things is often difficult.
Chaos may ensue for a while, but once the need for new direction (adaptation) is understood, then the average voter understands that the cataclysmic event was necessary.
If the “swamp” can drive President Trump from office, they win.
However if Trump hangs on, and I think he just might, then there will be a giant sucking sound as the water leaves the “swamp.” No longer will politicians flock to Washington to make a deal with the Ukraine or some other corrupt country because the money will no longer flow like it does now.
This is the importance of the cataclysmic event known as Donald Trump.
