It came from my oldest daughter, Kim. It was simple and to the point. "He won!!!"
I had been watching some guys blow up some old dynamite someone had found in an abandoned shed, and I thought it would be a while before Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Michigan were called by the networks.
But there it was as plain as day. Donald J. Trump was the 45th president of the United States. I may have gotten two hours sleep after the announcement, but I was just too excited, too revved up, too worried that Hillary would somehow win.
Our country is in serious trouble. Let’s start with our borders. Illegal aliens are streaming across the southern border unchecked. We have no idea how many terrorists have crossed into our country and are now living in our cities planning an attack
This nation is $20 trillion dollars in debt, and you and I will not be around when this debt is retired.
Weak politicians have borrowed money using our children’s credit to make themselves rich. This nation has spent money as fast as the printing presses could spit it out, yet look around. What do you see?
You see businesses that have been closed, and the buildings are empty. The roads are falling apart, and people, good people, educated people, look for jobs. The sad truth is that many of our citizens are working two jobs just to make ends meet.
Jobs are leaving this country at a rapid rate because many of our corporations are closing shop in America and moving to Mexico, South America, or overseas. We are overtaxed , and up until today, there was no hope in sight.
The new president will have his plate full. He will have to attack on many fronts simultaneously, and he will have to have an uncommon drive. One of Mr. Trump’s first tasks will be to re-build the armed forces. At the same time, he will need to close the border, and quit giving illegal aliens $21,000 each.
We simply cannot afford it. Foreign policy will be another front where he will have to act quickly. America is no longer respected around the world, and our enemies, which there are many, will look for opportunities to humiliate and take advantage of our country, much as Iran has taken advantage of us.
But there is hope. Donald Trump brings hope to our country. Whether or not you supported him, your life will be better. He will be a president for all of our citizens. He is a billionaire who speaks the language of the middle class, and he means to make the middle class great again.
I am convinced that in a few months, good jobs will begin to open up. No longer will your college graduate live in the basement of your home, but instead, will move into the labor force and become a productive citizen who can support him or herself.
There will be new respect for our law enforcement officials. This is very important because without respect for our law enforcement officials and the law, we have chaos. Bringing this about will be a high priority for the Trump administration.
We spend more on education than any country in the world, yet our students continuously score below other countries. This will change under a Trump administration. Government regulations are killing our jobs, and Donald Trump will attack those regulations with a vigor not seen in a generation. Remember this. Trump is a fighter unlike the weak kneed politicians who did not have the guts to stand for our country. He will fight for what he believes, and he believes strongly in America.
Americans saw that this country was on the wrong track, and in a historic election, changed tracks. On January 20th, 2017, I expect to hear a giant sucking sound. That will be President Trump "Draining the swamp."
I cannot help but believe General Douglas MacArthur and General George Patton, two of his favorite generals, have stopped spinning in their graves. We have elected a "change" president, and he believes in the American people. He is a leader and a fighter. He brings new goals and a new perspective, and I believe that the American people are ready for their new leader.
