The Yazoo City girls softball team is now 3-1 in district after spending last week on the road.
Head Coach Stacy Leach said that the Lady Indians broke even in a double-header against Clarksdale on Mar. 26. The Yazoo City girls fell in Game 1 with a score of 8-10, but came back and won Game 2 with a score of 18-8.
"The first game against Clarksdale was a nail-biter," she said. "In the second game Yazoo took revenge and shut Clarksdale down in the 5th inning."
On Mar. 27 the Lady Indians traveled to Greenwood, where they took another victory with a score of 26-4, increasing their district record to 3-1.
"The Yazoo girls played outstanding in all three events," Coach Leach said. "Our Freshman pitcher, Jasmine Sims, displayed leadership in leading the team in two out of three victories."
Coach Leach also said that the statistics for the games were equal between all of the players, all of the hitting percentages were high, and the defense was excellent.
"I give the girls straight As in performance defensively and offensively," she said.
