William P. “Bill” Woods, 63, of Benton, MS, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020 at the Mississippi Baptist Medical Center in Jackson following a three and a half month battle with cancer.
A native and lifelong resident of Yazoo County, Mississippi, Bill was the son of the late Louise and Johnnie Woods, Sr. Bill enjoyed sports, especially helping coach baseball and softball for his children. He loved children and they, in turn, loved him. He cherished his three grandsons and they, too, loved their Papa. Bill was a wonderful cook and enjoyed having family and friends over to share his scrumptious meals. Bill also enjoyed the outdoors - hunting and fishing. He was a loving devoted father, grandfather, brother, neighbor and friend. He was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Johnnie L. Woods, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter, Erica Boykin (Marshall); his son, Clint Woods (Emily), all of Brandon, MS; sisters: Linda Norrid (Ricky) of Byram, MS; Cheri Huffmaster (Charles) of Pearl, MS; and Mary Helen Smith (Charlie), of Benton; his grandsons: Payton & Myles Boykin and Easton Woods; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Shiloh Primitive Baptist Cemetery, 10115 Eden Midway Road in Benton. All family and friends are invited to attend and are encouraged to dress in casual, comfortable attire.
Pallbearers will be Trent Smith, Brent Smith, Jonathan Huffmaster, Devin Houck, Tim Terry, and Travis Crist.
