Vivian Jones Waaser, age 98, went to be with Jesus on May 23, 2022 at home in Ridgeland, MS. She was born on September 22, 1923 in Yazoo City, MS. She married Robert Waaser in 1941 and they had 3 children. She worked as a bookkeeper at GoyerOil Company and Miss. Chemical Corporation in Yazoo City. She served as president of the PTA at Main Street Elementary School and was a member of First Baptist Church. After her husband died in 1982, she moved to Vicksburg to be closer to her daughter. She was active in the Mercy Hospital Auxiliary and served as President. She was a member of Bowmar Avenue Baptist Church where she taught children in Sunday School. In 2001, she moved to The Waterford in Ridgeland where she lived until her death. She made beautiful sequined Christmas ornaments and crocheted afghans for family and friends. She also crocheted lap robes and scarves for children in the hospital and at Sunnybrook Children’s home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Madison and also worshipped at Stillwater Church at the Waterford.
Vivian is survived by children, Delores Waaser Barrett (George) of Brandon, Judy Waaser Hutchinson (Randy) of Madison, and Ernest Waaser (Pam) of Arden, North Carolina and grandchildren, George Barrett, Jr., Wendy Barrett Polk, Michael Barrett, Tammy Hutchinson Young, Lisa Hutchinson, Stephanie Waaser, Robert Waaser and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Robert Waaser, Jr. and siblings, Ray Jones, Ruby Richards, William Jones and Frank Jones.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 26, followed by the service at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Madison. Burial will be at Short Creek Baptist Church in Yazoo City.
Pallbearers are Michael Barrett, Barrett Mathews, Mike Polk, Robert Waaser, Caleb Young, Connor Young, and Tim Young.
