My dear, precious husband, Russell W. Carter went to sleep in death, Saturday morning at 3:00 am. We, his wife of 48 years (Barbara Kinnison Carter), his daughters Kimberly Carter, Candace Carter Coffey, along with his 2 grandchildren, Brooklyn Coffey and Lauren Carter, will miss Russ.
His death has left a hole in our lives, filled only by our heavenly father Jehovah's love for his faithful followers. Psalms 83:18 (old KJV Bible)
Russ was born in Washington, Iowa, to his mother, Maxine Moore Carter and father, Russell L. Carter, on December 2, 1953. His parents precede him in death.
Russ moved to Yazoo City in 1969 with his parents to assist the small Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, in this area. Russ and his dad served as elders in the congregation and in 1972, the first Kingdom Hall in Yazoo was built. The congregation grew so rapidly that a new Kingdom Hall was built and dedicated in 1978, on Hwy 49 in Yazoo City. There is now a new Kingdom Hall at 822 E. Broadway, Yazoo City, MS. Russ was instrumental in its construction. Russ and I worked on the building of Kingdom Halls all over Mississippi and Louisiana for many years.
He loved the bible and did as Jesus told us to do, “witness to all the nations and then the end will come." Matthew 24:14 (the end of Satan's world, not the earth Ecclesiastes 1:4) Russ knew if he fell asleep in death, he would be in his heavenly father's memory and will awaken back to life, right here on earth, a cleansed paradise earth, just like the garden of Eden. Revelation 21:3,4 Jehovah has appointed his son Christ Jesus as King and cornerstone of HIS heavenly kingdom, along with the apostles appointed as the foundation. Ephesians 2:19-22 (the Kingdom is the theme of the bible, a heavenly government to rule over the earth) Russ knew there would be a resurrection of the dead, back to life here on earth for himself and billions who have lived, since the time of Abel. He looked forward to being able to talk to Noah about the construction of the Ark and how it withstood the global flood. Genesis ch.6; John 5:28,29
Russ was self employed as a building contractor and master electrician for over 40 years. For the last 10 years, he worked as a building inspector and code enforcer. He loved his work and helped ensure that buildings were properly constructed, met safety standards and codes. Russ really enjoyed working with employees of Yazoo, including Kenny Washington, Terry Harber and many others.
Russ had a love for traveling. He took me and the kids all over this country. We traveled with our camper and stayed at state parks everywhere. We went fishing and exploring in so many different beautiful places.
Russ really loved antique cars and the TV show American Pickers. Last fall he and I got to visit The American Pickers actual store in Tennessee.
We along with his sisters, Carly Carter Self (AL), Denise Carter Rounds (AL), brothers Melvin Carter (NV), Charles and Dixie Carter (NV), niece Madison Rounds, nephews Jeremy Self and Brent Carter look forward to the time when Jesus instructed us to pray is fulfilled, "Our Father in heaven (Jehovah), thy Kingdom come (a heavenly government that will rule over the earth with Jesus as King), thy will be done on earth as in heaven. Matthew 6:9,10 (no sickness, no pain and no more death Revelation 21:3,4; Isaiah 65:21-25)
