Mrs. Pauline “Polly” Jones Ladshaw, 94, passed from this life, March 8, 2015 at Sanctuary Hospice House following a long fruitful life. She was born August 28, 1920 in Chattanooga, TN to Emmett Paul Jones, Sr. and Gracia Lee Thomas Jones. She grew up in Memphis, TN and moved to Yazoo City in 1936 where she was a 1937 graduate of Yazoo City High School. She continued her education at Hinds Junior College where she was a cheerleader and received her Bachelor Degree at The MS State College for Women (now MUW). She was among the first women chemist employed by TVA, where she worked until she met her husband of fifty-three years, William Henry Ladshaw, Jr. Polly was a devoted wife who loved caring for her family and their home. After the death of her husband in 1995, she moved to Tupelo in 1997.
Polly was a Christian lady, always passionate about mission work that began in her childhood. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church where she participated in various mission programs, taught Vacation Bible School, and Mission Friends, and was a member of WMU. She was a member of the local chapter of UDC. She was also active in Sanctuary Hospice Auxiliary from the beginning of its organization.
A celebration of her life and home-going will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Yates officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to service time at the church. Private burial will follow on Friday at Glenwood Cemetery, Yazoo City, MS. Holland Funeral Directors Tupelo Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, William Henry Ladshaw, III (Barbara Bean Ladshaw) of Waleska, GA and Thomas Wharey Ladshaw (Leslye) of Covington, KY; two daughters, Mary Ladshaw Simpson of Copperas Cove, TX and Paula Ladshaw Morrow (Phillip) of Mantachie, MS; eight grandchildren, Andrew Simpson, peter Ladshaw Simpson (Jennifer), Bronwyn Simpson, Jordan Blayne Blanton (Jody), Katherine Lee Valdes (Michael), Jacob Bankston, Josh Morrow, and Ariel Morrow; six great-grandchildren, Trey Bankston, Jacob Bankston, Cyrus Morrow, Kolton Morrow, Cadence Grace Blanton, and Harper Kate Valdes; a host of nieces, nephews and other near relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; brother, Emmett Paul Jones, Jr.; sister, Johnnie Grace Murphy; grandson, Russell Bankston, Jr., and son-in-law, Riley J. Simpson.
Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her Sunday school class and the Senior Saints.
