Merrian Pierce Gregory peacefully passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on October 21, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William C. Pierce and Ethel Wilkinson Pierce; and her siblings, Layton Pierce, Louise Boatner, Carlee Medley, Ester Martin and Malcolm Pierce.
She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, Emery A. Gregory Jr.; her daughters, Debbie Hill Decker (Jack) of Yazoo City and Patti G. Purser of Ridgeland; her grandson, Nicholas C. Hill (Kathie); and her two great-granddaughters, Maggie and Mandy Hill of Gastonia, NC, her brother Charles R. Pierce of Canton and a host of nieces and nephews.
Merrian was born and raised in Benton. She graduated from Benton High School. She then married the love of her life Emery and raised their 2 daughters. Merrian was a longtime resident of the Yazoo City. She worked at Ratner's until she retired. She attended St John's United Methodist Church. She and her husband Emery have traveled and enjoyed their retirement. She was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, an aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be from 5-7p.m. Tuesday at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home, followed graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery.
