Joe Lee Scott, affectionately known as “Mr. B.” to many, died Aug. 24, 2020. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 5 at 11 a.m. at Cypress Garden Cemetery with Rev. Robert Green officiating. Mr. Scott was born July 20, 1936 to Jessie and Vinnie Belle Scott. On Feb. 17, 1971 he was joined in holy matrimony to Ms. Nina Haines, and to that union they were blessed with four wonderful children. He was a loving father and grandfather, always full of joy and fun. He always loved to talk with his children and grandchildren and share his life experiences and wisdom. Joe gave his life to Christ at an early age at New Tabernacle M.B. Church on Wolf Lake under the leadership of the late Rev. O’Banner. Once New Tabernacle moved to Yazoo City, he remained a member under the leadership of the late James E. Johnson. He remained faithful membember and served on the deacon board under the leadership of Rev. Robert Green until his passing. Joe gained his wings at home surrounded by his family and friends. He will now be reunited with his parents and grandparents; his sisters, Elsa and Jesse Maie; and his brother, J.W. Scott, whom all preceded him in death. Survivors include four daughters, Tina Gordon of Victorville, Calif.; Linda Scott (Lloyd) of Yazoo City, Shirley Jones (Qornell) of Jackson and Susie Jones of Yazoo City; one son, Jamie Scott of Yazoo City; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Joe was a genuine man and a calm voice to all that he crossed paths with in his lifetime. He held a special place in is heart for his best friends, Doc, Maple, E.L. Brown, and the late Charles Stuckey. He also had a lot of love for his Shady Lane family.
