Jeanne Glisson McConnell went to be with Jesus on May 21, 2022. She passed away peacefully at her home in Yazoo City, MS. Jeanne was born to James Bondy Glisson and Lois Miles on February 14, 1932, in Yazoo City, MS, where she was also raised and spent the majority of her life. She was a graduate of Yazoo City High School. Jeanne was a stay-at-home mother for most of her life, raising her four sons and taking care of the home.
Jeanne and Billy McConnell were married on October 31, 1950. She was 18 when she married Billy, and she spent all her life loving him and enjoying her family with him by her side until he passed away on January 31, 2017. They were the best of friends and lifelong companions. Jeanne was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a natural caretaker and loved helping and giving to others. She loved others fiercely and never wavered in her faith in Jesus Christ through every trial and tribulation she encountered. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Yazoo City, MS. After her children all left home, Jeanne spent her time working at Cindi’s, volunteering for her church, and traveling with her church family.
Jeanne is survived by her brother, Jimmy Glisson of Rolling Fork; her son, Clay McConnell of Yazoo City; her four granddaughters, Candin Phillips (Justin) of South Carolina, Mindy Morgan (Trey) of Yazoo City, Lakken Bearden (Austin) of Inverness, and Makenzie McConnell of Yazoo City; her three grandsons, William “Will” McConnell of Natchez, James “Jay” McConnell (Alex) of Yazoo City, and Austin McConnell of Texas; her great-grandchildren, Max Phillips, BR Morgan, Noah Morgan, BayLynn Morgan, Kate Austin Bearden, Rylan Poole, Parker McConnell, and Landry McConnell; her niece, Gale Glisson Bullock (Wayne); her nephew, Darrell Glisson (Christine); and several great nieces and great nephews.
Jeanne is preceded in death by her parents, James Bondy Glisson and Lois Miles; her husband, James “Billy” McConnell; three sons, William Kevin McConnell, Jon Michael “Mike” McConnell, and Marc “Bubba” McConnell; her brother and sister in law, Harold and Melba Glisson; and her daughter in law, Ramona McConnell.
Jeanne will be most remembered for her passion for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her willingness to always help others, her loyalty to her family and friends, her genuine love and kindness for others, and her ability to tell it like it was.
Visitation will be held at Stricklin King Funeral Home Wednesday, May 25, from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Services will be Thursday, May 26, at Stricklin King at 11:00 A.M.
