Allen Jackson “Jack” Smith was born in Charleston, MS on February 4, 1944 to the late Inez R Smith and Graydon Basil (Buddy) Smith. He grew up in Picayune, MS and attended Pearl River Jr College on a football scholarship.
In the army, he was stationed at Augusta, Ga. He took a course in Columbia, SC at Fort Jackson where he met his wife, Ginny. They have been married for 49 years. In the army, you are called by your first name, so Ginny knew him only as Allen. He did not tell her that everyone in his home called him Jack. He did not realize that he would see her after training session.
Jack has worked at many different jobs as Amco, MDOT, and long haul truck driver owner and operator, GFS Drilling, Digicon Vertas, and went on to open Airjac Drilling in New Iberia, LA. His hobbies were golfing, hunting, including alligator, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Ginny, sons; Troy Smith and Teril(Veronika) Smith; Granddaughter Yana Smith Dej(Brano) and Tori Smith; Grandsons Nicholas and Vonn Smith; Great Granddaughter Lilly Dej; Sister Beverly S Ladner (Dewell); Nephews Yancy and Corey Ladner .
Funeral services for Mr. Smith were Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Yazoo City. The Rev. Charles Moore officiated the services.
