After citizens noticed a suspicious man in a Yazoo City neighborhood, he was shortly arrested for drug possession.
Charles Leal, 42, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
Chief Ron Sampson said officers responded to several tips from citizens who noticed a suspicious white male in the First Street and Maynie Avenue.
“Citizens reported that he was wandering around and were concerned that he was up to no good,” Sampson said. “Officers encountered the suspect and began a field interrogation. He claimed to have no identification but later produced some.”
Sampson said officers questioned Leal on whether he had any drugs in his possession.
“He later admitted to having purchased drugs in the area,” Sampson said. “He had three bags of meth in his pocket, about two grams. He also claims to not know who he purchased it from.”
Leal remained in jail as of press time.
