Drop off unused or unwanted medication at Prescription Drug Round-Up April 26By THE YAZOO HERALD,
Once again, Gateway MAP Coalition (a diverse team of individuals on a mission to reduce/prevent underage drinking and substance abuse among the youth and their families) and local and state law enforcement agencies, along with other businesses and organizations, have joined forces to hold the semi-annual Drug Round-Up. The event is set for 10- a.m. - 2 p.m. Friday, April 26 in front of Yazoo Drugs near Kaye’s Market at the Plaza Shopping Center located at 745 East 15th St.
A nationwide prevention project sponsored by the National Drug Enforcement Administration, the round-up is a one-day blitz held annually the last Saturday of both April and October.
Anyone may drop-off unused/unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs/medication, including controlled and non-controlled substances, inhalers, nasal spray, eye drops, ointments and creams, vitamins and supplements, pre-filled syringes and needles and other tablets and liquids. However, IV bags, blood or infectious waste, nebulizers, oxygen tanks, mercury thermometer and used needles/sharps will NOT be accepted.
Trained professionals will be on hand to ensure confidentiality, health and safety and properly dispose of the drugs.
