An altercation at a house party on Grand Avenue, which was broken up by police officers, is believed to have led to a shooting at a Broadway gas station last Friday.
Capt. William Nevels, with the Yazoo City Police Department, said the investigation continues, but that arrests and charges are coming.
“I am confident that arrests and charges will follow,” Nevels said. “Our investigation leads us to know that there was more than one shooter. In fact, we brought someone into our custody for questioning within a half hour after the shooting, and we will have arrests coming.”
Nevels said three victims were shot during the altercation, but all three are recovering from their non-life-threatening wounds.
“This whole incident began at a house party in the 700 block of Grand Avenue,” Nevels said. “Officers responded and dispersed the party. Those involved in the shooting all ended up at Phillips 66 on Broadway, where an altercation occurred inside the store. It led outside with three individuals being shot.”
