Willard Broom passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021. He was 89, a resident of Benton, and a member of Black Jack Baptist Church.
Mr. Broom was a Mason, an Air Force veteran and Army National Guard veteran. He was a retired computer systems analyst at Mississippi Chemical Corporation.
Mr. Broom was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Kathryn Hearst Broom. He was also preceded in death by his parents Cassie and Anna Lois Broom, six sisters Bernice Bell, Geraldine Lowery, Imogene Myers, Eloise Pittman, Doris Williams, and Annette Broom, two brothers Roger Broom and Grayson Broom, and a son David Willard Broom Sr.
Mr. Broom leaves behind a son, Greg Broom (Kathy) of Yazoo City; two daughters, Lisa Broom Ables of Yazoo City and Kay Broom Ray (Brad) of Madison and one daughter-in-law Mazelle Beach Broom of Starkville.
He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters,
A private service will be held for immediate family on Tuesday, February 23 at 12:30 a.m. at Stricklin-King Funeral Home. A memorial graveside service will be held at a later date for Mr. Broom at Black Jack Church Cemetery in Vaughan, Mississippi.
