Alice Fay Cummings Johnston was born on March 31, 1925 to parents, William Flowers Cummings and Carrie Ida Peck. She passed away at her home in Yazoo City, MS on February 17, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Jack Cummings and Maurice Cummings; sisters Annie Farrish, Ethel Sanders, and Mary Worthy Lewis; husband Gilruth Johnston; and a step-son, Michael Johnston.
She was employed at E&W Manufacturing Company throughout the company’s operating years. She also worked at Black’s Department Store, Black and White Department Store, and Anderson’s Jewelry.
She loved being around people and making new friends.
She is survived by two children, Jackie (Jack) Varner and Bennie K Warrington. She resided with her daughter for the last 20 years of her life. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Stricklin King Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, 10:00 am until 11:45 am, followed by a graveside service by Brother Sam Riddell at Glenwood Cemetery.
Pall bearers will be Otto Worthy, Billy Worthy, Ernie Senior, Paul Dozier, Terry Dozier, and William David Pigg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baptist Hospice in Yazoo City, MS.
