The Yazoo City Lady Indian softball team began postseason play Monday in the Class 4A softball playoffs against Choctaw Central.
The District Champion Lady Indians were riding a win streak heading into their first-round matchup but found the going tough against the Lady Warriors.
Inability to put the bat on the ball coupled with fielding errors and miscues led to a three-inning, 23-3 loss and placed the Lady Indians in the tough position of having to force a game three with a game two win. (Note: The doubleheader was played on Tuesday and results were not available as of press time).
One bright spot for the Lady Indians, however, is that the next two games will be in Yazoo City and the home crowd should provide them support.
Against Choctaw Central, Karmen Bernard was the only Lady Indian to have a hit, registering a triple. Starting pitcher Zoie Baker picked up the loss on the mound and had 2 RBI for Yazoo City.
