Yazoo DAR chapter installs officers

Yazoo Chapter NSDAR held its May 15, 2019 meeting in the home of Janet Looney Whittington, Regent, who presided over the meeting.

The DAR JROTC Bronze Medal Award Winner at Yazoo County High School was announced; Cadet Breanna King.  Sue Patterson will present the award to her at the school this coming week.

An Independence Day Fourth of July Display will be put in Ricks Memorial Library for the month of July.

Janet Looney Whittington was recognized as the 2019-2022 NSDAR Curator General Elect and will be installed at the NSDAR National Congress held in Washington D.C. this June. Two other members were installed as officers for the MSSDAR  2019-2022 term at  State Conference in February: Priscilla Allen Harper, First Vice Regent and Montine Young Bond, State Curator.

The new officers for Yazoo Chapter’s 2019-2022 term were installed at the meeting: Regent- Sue Patterson, Vice Regent - JoAnne Gibbs Collins, Chaplain - Montine Young Bond, Recording Secretary- Priscilla Allen Harper, Corresponding Secretary- Gloria Screws Adcock, Treasurer-Beja Regan Everett, Registrar- Ava Anderson Hale, Historian-Janet Looney Whittington, Librarian-Kathleen Collins Olivieri, Parliamentarian -Marsha Dunn Williams. 

Priscilla Allen Harper conducted the memorial service for Marjorie Everett Vaughn, a 26 year member of Yazoo Chapter NSDAR.

A delicious luncheon, prepared by Janet Whittington, was served following the business meeting and Memorial Service.

Yazoo Chapter NSDAR members urge everyone to remember two important patriotic days in May: Armed Forces Day paying tribute to those who are serving in the U.S. Armed Forces and Memorial Day Honoring those who died while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.
