Lintonia Garden Club welcomes two new members

The November meeting of Lintonia Garden Club was held November 15, 2018 at the Public Service Commission office with 14 ladies present.

There were two new members: Ms. Charline McGraw and Ms. Lyndell Moore.

Our club is affiliated with National Garden Clubs, Inc., Deep South Region, The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Inc., and River Road District.

The business meeting was called to order by Robbie Montgomery, President.  The Scripture, Collect, Pledge to the American flag and Conservation Pledge were given.  Minutes and financial report followed.  A report was given on our booth at the Yazoo County Fair. Food collections were brought in for the Manna House.  We did a display at the Ricks Memorial Library for the Months of October and November recently.  Plans for our Christmas party were also made.

Our guest speaker was Ms. Melinda Causey, Third Vice-President of The Garden Clubs of Mississippi, bringing information about fall "bulbs".  She works in the office of Van Zyverdens in Meridian.  Her vast knowledge of bulbs, planting, and keeping them alive was fantastic.  She brought with her many bulbs and explained differences in Rhizomes, Tubers, Corms, Tuberous Roots, and True Bulbs.  We all left with many samples she brought for us.

Hostesses were Ruby Gilliam, Robbie Montgomery, and Elouise Upchurch.
