A Yazoo County man with a lengthy criminal history finds himself back behind bars after he allegedly started a fire, resisted arrest and was found in possession of drugs.
Justin Nelson was charged with arson, trespassing, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance.
Chief Deputy Terry Gann, with the Yazoo County Sheriff’s Department, said Nelson was arrested near his home on Fletchers Chapel Road last week.
“He was trespassing on someone’s property and set a fire in the woods on the property,” Gann said. “After responding to the call and an attempt to take him into custody, he resisted arrest. He was eventually apprehended, and crystal methamphetamine was found inside his pocket.”
Gann said Nelson was arrested near the scene of the fire.
“He has a lengthy criminal history and a history of resisting arrest,” Gann added.
