Yazoo County taxpayers should not see an increase in taxes for the upcoming fiscal year. The Yazoo County Board of Supervisors intends to maintain the same millage rate of 72.81 mills from last year moving forward into the new budget.
A public hearing on Yazoo County’s proposed budget and tax levies will be held on Sept. 2 at 9 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room in the annex to the Yazoo County Courthouse located at 211 East Broadway in Yazoo City.
Yazoo County is now operating with projected total budget revenue of $24,458,158. Of that amount, 60.62 percent, or $14,826,226.64 of such revenue, is obtained through ad valorem taxes. For the next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenue of $24,724,817. Of that amount, 59.78 percent, or $14,780,495.60 is proposed to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy.
The increase in projected total budget revenue in fiscal year 2025-2026 is due to a potential increase in funding, which may be received from state and federal government sources.
