Yazoo County wrapped up a historic season with a loss to Mooreville in the second round of the playoffs Monday.
The team’s 18 wins marked the most in a season in school history.
Mooreville 7, Yazoo County 4
After earning decisive wins over North Panola in both round one playoff games, the Panthers traveled to Mooreville to face one of the state’s top teams.
Parker Barron led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a team-high three runs batted in. Barron also pitched the complete game for Yazoo County in the loss.
TJ Rials had a hit and an RBI for the Panthers.
Graelan Shaffer and Chris Rials also had hits for Yazoo County.
Mooreville 13, Yazoo County 7
Mooreville used a big fifth inning to secure the victory in a competitive game two at Yazoo County Monday.
Myron Straughter drove in the first run of the game with an RBI single.
Straughter and Parker Barron each had two hits to lead the Panthers at the plate.
Josh Snow and Straughter each drove in a pair of runs for Yazoo County.
TJ Rials took the loss for Yazoo County, striking out four batters over four innings of work. Rials also had a hit, and scored a run by beating a tag at the plate. Graelan Shaffer also had a hit for the Panthers.
Panther head coach Corbin Ellis said he was proud of his team’s season and pleased with how they played hard until the final out against a talented team.
