Yazoo City’s Lady Indians were unable to carry over their momentum from the Humphreys County Shootout on Friday night, where they fell 45-21 to Rosa Fort.
The Lady Lions jumped all over Yazoo City in the first quarter of action, outscoring them 20-4 to take a commanding lead of the contest.
The pace slowed to a halt in the second quarter, as the Lady Indians ramped up their defense considerably. They stifled the progress of Rosa Fort, yet they were still outscored by the Lady Lions 6-4 to make it a 26-8 game at the half.
After the break, the Lady Indians came out with a renewed focus and intensity. They were able to match the Lady Lions move-for-move, shot-for-shot, point-for-point.
When the proverbial dust had cleared, each team was able to score eight points, bringing the score to 32-16 at the half.
In the final quarter of action, Rosa Fort quietly put the Lady Indians away once and for all by scoring 11 points to Yazoo City’s five points, bringing the final to 45-21.
The loss dropped Yazoo City’s overall record to 2-12 on the year.
The Lady Indians will try to rebound from their loss on Friday night when they travel to face Gentry.
The tip-off for the contest against Gentry is set for 6 p.m.
