Benton Academy’s Raiders fell 37-8 to a 6-2 Brookhaven Academy team.
The loss dropped Benton to 2-6 on the season.
The first quarter of action was a highly contested battle, and both teams struggled to make any headway against the other. Before the quarter came to a close, however, Brookhaven broke the tie with a touchdown to give them a 6-0 lead.
In the second quarter, Benton got on the board with a touchdown by Bruner Chandler and a 2-point conversion, but Brookhaven struck with two touchdowns of their own, making it a 20-8 game at the half.
Things got away from the Raiders in the second half of the game. Brookhaven was able to score 17 more points while holding the Raiders scoreless in the second half, giving them a 37-8 victory.
Benton will try to reverse their fortune against Newton County Academy on Friday night.
Newton improved to 4-4 on the season after defeating Ben’s Ford 26-6 in their most recent game.
Kickoff at Newton is set for 7 pm.
