Manchester Academy’s Mavericks kept up their winning ways after the Thanksgiving Holidays with a pair of wins over Carroll Academy and Central Holmes.
In the first game of the week against Carroll on Monday, the Mavericks cruised to a 53-23 win.
After going up 31-11 heading into the half, Manchester was able to play a number of players in the second half.
Matt Liddon led the Mavericks with 16 points, 14 of which came in the first half.
Chris Guthrie was second on the team with eight points.
According to Manchester Academy head coach John Harris, it was the most complete game they’ve played this year.
“We jumped on them pretty early,” Harris said. “It was our most complete game of the season on offense and defense. We did all of the little things right and kept our foot on the gas the whole game.”
Tuesday’s game was a little bit of a different story with a similar ending.
The Mavericks won 53-43, but getting there was trickier.
Harris was pleased with the outcome, but he wants to see consistent energy.
“It was a tough game,” Harris said. “We didn’t come out with as much energy. It was good to find a way to win.”
Jay Warren led the Mavericks with 18 points.
Harris was thrilled to see Warren take a big step in his progression.
“Jay came up big for us,” Harris said. “He stepped up and hit a lot of big shots for us when we needed them most.”
Liddon was second on the team with 16 points.
Next up for Manchester is a home contest against Winona Christian on Monday.
Tip-off for the first game is set for 3 p.m.
