The Lady Raiders of Benton Academy had mixed results in their first two games of the season.
Against St. Al on Friday in their season debut, Adam Dixon’s squad put together an offensive clinical, putting together hit after hit to score a whopping 21 runs to take the game 21-10.
The Lady Raiders were up 11-5 after the first inning of action thanks in part to singles by Madilyn Manor, Catie Merrell, Lauren McCoy, and Sarah Elizabeth Hardy, who also had an RBI double in the inning.
St. Al cut Benton’s lead in the second inning to 11-8 after scoring three runs.
Each team was able to produce a run in the third inning to put the score at 12-9.
McCoy and Manor were each able to score a run in the fourth, while St. Al was unable to produce a run, bringing the score to 14-9.
In the fifth inning, St. Al scored one run, but it was far too little because the Lady Raiders scored seven runs to put the game well out of reach, bringing the final to 21-10.
The offense cooled down for the Lady Raiders in a big way on Monday when they faced Central Holmes.
The Lady Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the first inning that they would not relinquish.
In the second inning, Central Holmes produced four runs to extend their lead to 5-0.
Central Holmes scored one run in the third inning and four in the fourth inning to take the game 10-0.
The Lady Raiders returned to action on Friday with Park Place Christian School at home.
