Yazoo County star quarterback Kenneth Gainwell has made the Mississippi roster for the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game.
The first thing that Gainwell felt when he received the news was pure shock.
“The game just sort of popped up for me,” Gainwell said. “I never really expected it.”
Once the shock wore off, Gainwel was filled with excitement, and he is thrilled about the possibility of being an ambassador for Yazoo.
“I’m very excited about playing in the game,” Gainwell said. “I’m excited about the opportunity to represent Yazoo County and my community by doing what I do best. I’ll be playing quarterback and wherever else they decide to put me.”
The senior came into the season with high expectations, and thus far, he has exceeded them. He has thrown for 350 yards with five touchdowns to only one interception, and on the ground, he has rushed 93 times for 773 yards and 15 touchdowns (8.3 yards per carry).
Gainwell has helped his team earn their first 6-0 start in team history.
After high school, Gainwell will continue his football career at Memphis, where he is currently committed.
