The much-needed repairs to the historical Triangle Cultural Center could be happening by this spring. However, it is a project that has remained in limbo since 2020.
Alma Jones, grant manager with the city of Yazoo City, provided a timeline to the Board of Mayor and Aldermen during its city council meeting Monday.
“We are currently in the construction specification detail portion (right now),” Jones said, Monday afternoon. “They are designing the specifications for the renovations that would need to happen to the Triangle Cultural Center. The cost estimates should be put to those specifications by March and bid the job out in April to start the construction in May.”
The status of the highly anticipated project has remained stagnant since July of 2024 after The Herald confirmed with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History that the state had been waiting on the city-hired engineering firm, Willis Engineering Inc., since 2022 for requested drawings and specifications to review the project.
Repairs to the historic Triangle Cultural Center have remained in limbo since 2020 with past and current city administrations expressing frustration in the matter.
