Junior, former director of the Two Mississippi Museums, the Eddie S. Glaude Jr. Book Signing and Discussion will be in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. Glaude, author of We Are the Leaders We Have Been Looking For, and Junior will explore how everyday people can become pivotal leaders in their communities.
Copies of We Are the Leaders We Have Been Looking For will be available for purchase in the Mississippi Museum Store, and a book signing will be held at 5 p.m. in the lobby of the museums. A Q&A will immediately follow the 6 p.m. book discussion.

Join the Two Mississippi Museums and the Goldring/Woldenberg Institute of Southern Jewish Life for a Mississippi Freedom Seder in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. Inspired by the original 1969 Freedom Seder, where hundreds of people of different backgrounds gathered to explore and celebrate freedom in the context of the Civil Rights Movement, this communal event invites participants to the Passover table for an evening of commemoration, stories, and community building. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students, and are available for purchase here.

Sunday, April 14, 2 p.m. at the Two Mississippi Museums. Hollow Tree Sunday Screening. Join us for a screening of Hollow Tree in the Craig H. Neilsen Auditorium of the Two Mississippi Museums. This documentary follows the story of three teenagers coming of age in their homeplace of Louisiana. Their different perspectives—as Indigenous, White, and Angolan young women—shape their story of the climate crisis when they first witnessed the Mississippi River’s increased engineering, stumps of cypress trees, and polluting refineries. Part of the Southern Circuit, this program is presented in partnership with the Mississippi Humanities Council and the Mississippi Film Office.

Friday, April 19, 8:30 a.m. at the Eudora Welty House & Garden. Writing With Nature Workshop. Join us for a Writing With Nature Workshop at the Eudora Welty House & Garden (EWHG). Tammy Greer, folk artist, native plant advocate, and University of Southern Mississippi professor, will lead a guided nature walk through the Belhaven Mountain Bike trails highlighting native, culturally significant plants, and the stories behind them. After the walk, visitors will come to EWHG for refreshments and a writing prompt led by Michael Pickard, Eudora Welty Chair of Southern Literature and English at Millsaps College, followed by time to write and create in the Welty Garden.
