Dear Editor,
Having recently moved into the limits of Yazoo City, I no longer take my garbage to the dumpsters that are scattered around the county.
Public Service Commission of Yazoo City charges me about $20 a month, to pick up our trash twice a week. I am unable to opt-out of this service and will be charged for it whether we use it or not.
Since we moved into this house, about 6 months ago, the garbage service has not been consistent. At the very least, they have shown up once every 3 scheduled pick ups. As of today (2-27-17), the garbage has not been removed for over two weeks and the situation on my street is getting “messy.” I called PSC of Yazoo City, who informed me that they are aware of the problem.
According to them, this is a city-wide problem, caused by the lack of garbage trucks in use.
How many are actually in use? One. One working garbage truck to service the entire city!
This is an issue of sanitation that should concern any person living here. Is there anything being done about this? Or are all the people I talk to going to keep passing the buck? I do not know where the blame for this situation falls and am not interested in blame, this needs to be resolved.
Until it is, I will not be forced to pay for services that I am not receiving.
Sincerely,
M.R. Johnson
