Dear Editor,
I thought Yazoo City finally had the opportunity to grow and prosper.
We have a Chief of Police, Jeff Curtis, with a great background working to clean up the city. He has invested in a business and created roots. Chief Curtis is here to do what is best for Yazoo City.
Now it comes to the Mayor. While she has been office The Yazoo Herald can be found weekly with articles of her displeasure and attempts to run all departments of the city and arguments including with the Board of Alderman.
It has always been my understanding you hire the best person for a job because of their knowledge of the job and your belief they know what they are doing. If that is the case, why is she trying to micro manage the police department?
Chief Curtis has gained our community some respect in areas we were lacking. How can we get other businesses come to Yazoo City if they don’t feel safe and don’t think our police force would be able to protect their families and property.
My suggestion Is let the Chief run the department as he sees fit to keep Yazoo City citizens safe. He knows his job and is a real asset to the community.
