Very few annual events will ever make it nine decades, but 90 looks mighty good on the Yazoo County Fair.
Even with some rain in the middle of the week, the fair attracted tremendous crowds. Of course there were plenty of local folks enjoying the fun, but it seems more and more visitors from other counties are finding out about our local fair.
We spoke with visitors from Madison, Hinds and Warren counties. Some of them were visiting for the first time. All of them had nice things to say about our fair and will be likely to return.
The fair also remains as exciting as ever. The rides are great, and they occasionally change things up a little to keep it fresh. The Skywheel ride that made its debut this year was quite an experience. You could just about see the entire city from the top.
We loved the Yazoo County Fair when we were children, and we love it just as much now that we’re taking our children. We hope that we’ll still be around to bring our children’s children. The Yazoo County Fair will almost certainly still be here.
Something this special couldn’t keep going so long without a lot of hard work, including plenty of volunteer efforts, and we are grateful to everyone who works so hard to give us an annual event that brings so much joy to so many.
Yazoo County has the best county fair in the state. That may sound like some hometown boasting, but we challenge you to find one better.
That’s something we all should be proud of.
