How does one explain Donald Trump? Your explanation is as valid as anyone else’s, but let me give it a shot.
Trump is what arrives on the scene when you have a Republican Party so out of touch that it defies explanation.
For seven years, the Republicans have sat on their hands and let the Democrats and Obama do what they pleased. Harry Reid changed the rules of the Senate, and there was no push-back from the Republicans. Obama changed laws and made up several, and still no push-back from the Republicans in the House or Senate.
Republicans promised that if elected that they would terminate Obamacare. Even when they became the majority party, they failed to live up to this promise.
Their excuse was that they couldn’t repeal Obamacare because they needed a Republican president sitting in the Oval Office.
Mitch McConnell, the Republican Majority Leader in the Senate said recently that Obama’s policies were not going to be opposed. He followed up on this promise by helping pass the most disastrous budget perhaps in the history of the country. When this budget finally expires, the country will be in a minimum of $21 trillion in debt.
The Republicans have been silent on almost every issue. Immigration is an important issue that affects every American. However, Obama has let the gates down, and anyone and everyone can cross the border - terrorists included.
The American people know that this is wrong. A nation without borders is just a land mass inhabited by a diverse group of people.
Americans know that this uncontrolled illegal immigration is all part of a plan to change America. Low-skilled, uneducated illegal immigrants who have known only socialism or at worse, dictatorship, respond in the only way they know how.
Naturally, they fall back on their own experience, and unfortunately, they see socialism as the key to their future. This is a Democrats’ dream.
Democrats pay lip service to capitalism, but their actions speak louder than their words. The modern Democrat Party, believe it or not, is represented by Bernie Sanders, an avowed socialist, perhaps communist, who wants to tax the American people at a rate of 95 percent.
Now let’s be honest. How many of us will work if we get only 5 percent of what we earn?
The 94 million unemployed Americans will climb to include most of the labor force.
So you can see why many pundits call Sanders “Crazy Bernie.” He burned his Economics 101 textbook.
For years, the Republican Party was labeled the “stupid party.” Now it is the “out of touch party.” Many Americans have simply started calling themselves “conservative” rather than Republican.
Congress controls the purse strings, yet Obama has managed to get everything that he wanted. The Republicans in Congress saw to this because they claimed that they did not want to “shut the government down.” Whether they admit this or not, it is the responsibility of Congress to write and pass a budget.
It is up to the president to determine whether or not he wants a government shutdown. Remember the old saying: No guts, no glory, and the modern Republicans have neither.
There is a simple explanation for why Trump has emerged as a strong candidate for president. He has climbed over the “weaklings” in Congress and he is addressing the concerns of the American people. The facts are that our political system needs a massive shake up, and Trump is seen by many as the man to do it. The Republican Party is broken. It no longer represents middle class America. Trump is seen as an outsider who can change Washington and the Republican Party.
Inaction by a docile and Impotent Republican establishment has given us Donald Trump. The truth is that it may be too late for Republican insiders to stop him.
