Like most of you, I have been watching the Republican primary closely. There are some excellent candidates in the running, all of whom are superior to Hillary and Bernie. If the Republicans can’t beat those two socialists decisively, then the country is lost. It is over. We will morph into a dysfunctional country, and those freedoms you thought you had will disappear like the morning fog.
I have written a great deal about Donald Trump because I think he is a very interesting person. There is no doubt that he has changed the face of modern presidential politics with his obliteration of political correctness. The American people seem to like his style.
But I also like Ted Cruz. Cruz is really smart, and he knows the U. S. Constitution backwards and forwards. He is a true conservative, and from where I sit, he wants to get this country back on track with a booming economy and an immigration system that works. Look at Europe if you want to see where we will be in a year or two if our borders are not closed. Open borders will eventually lead to our demise, and we will become a country without an identity. Most conservatives are in favor of legal immigration, but to just show up in our country and we don’t know who you are or where you came from is not an immigration system.
Dr. Ben Carson may be one of the nicest men in the race, and of course, the mainstream media dislike him immensely. He is an African-American who is also a conservative Republican, and this does not compute with the likes of Chris Matthews or the other northeastern liberal media moguls. We know that Dr. Carson fought his way to the top of his profession and became a world class neurosurgeon. I wonder if Hillary or Bernie could ever match his accomplishments.
Next on my list is Mike Huckabee. He is a man of faith, a former Arkansas governor, and a conservative. Huckabee has the ability to communicate with the average person, and naturally, this makes him a bullseye for the liberal media. (Editor’s Note) Mike Huckabee announced that he was dropping out of the race shortly before this edition went to press).
In all honesty, I think that the race has now narrowed to Trump and Cruz. If you rely on the polls, Trump has a substantial lead, and in some polls, he is pulling away. Notice that I have not said that Trump is a conservative. But conservatives like him, and this can be puzzling. If he is not a “true blue” conservative, what is going on? What does he bring to the table that other candidates do not?
Could it be that the American people are fed up with the Obama administration and the Democrat Party. In spite of what Obama says, this economy is in shambles. Over 94 million people are out of work, and we have the highest number of people on welfare in our history. Young college graduates are having difficulty finding a decent job, and wages have not risen in nearly 8 years. Crony capitalism has made some people millionaires and has sent others into bankruptcy. College tuition continues to rise pricing more and more middle class students out of higher education. Overall, the middle class is taking a pounding.
The “establishment Republicans” are shaking in their boots with the thought that Trump or Cruz may be the next president of the United States. These are the people who have assisted with getting our country into the mess we are in. The people elected a majority of Republican senators and representatives to Congress, but nothing changed. These people proved themselves to be impotent. The “establishment Republicans” cannot relate to the voters in fly-over country because they do not understand what is on the mind of average Americans. Washington does not see a country in crisis. They know that their bank accounts are full, and they assume that everyone else’s is too. Wrong. Could it be that this is the divide that Trump is bridging?
The economy and immigration are two concerns that most Americans outside of Washington share. Give the people someone who can fix these problems, and that person will most likely be elected president. Trump is strong on immigration, and no one understands the economy better than he does.
And one more thing. The conservative intellectuals, i.e. George Will, Glenn Beck, and others, have come out strong against Trump claiming that he is not conservative enough and that his nomination will destroy the Republican Party. Who knows? This may add 5 more points to Trump’s poll numbers.
