As I sat down at the computer to write this column, I heard a passenger jet fly over my house.
It was fairly low, probably making its initial approach into Evers International Airport, and all four engines were humming.
What a great sound. Passengers sitting in comfort coming from who knows where riding in the finest technology known to man. The jet engines are gulping fuel at a high rate, yet there is plenty of it, and as soon as this particular plane lands, it will be refueled and shortly, it will be airborne again, headed to some distant city with a full passenger load.
Business will be conducted today thanks to this jet, and thanks to the men and women who supply the fuel. Without fuel, this plane, along with cars, tractors, and anything else that requires an internal combustion engine, will no longer exist.
Talk about going back to the “horse and buggy days!” That is where we would be.
But the “horse and buggy” days are exactly where the Democrat Party wants Americans to be. The headline read, “Democrats back bill to ban sale of gas-powered cars by 2040.”
Surely this was a misprint. But right under the headlines were these insane words, “Democrats will introduce legislation to completely phase out the use of gasoline-powered cars by 2040 mandating that only zero-emissions vehicles can be sold after 2040.”
Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Kamala Harris (D-CA.) Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Bernie Sanders (D-VT) all are sponsors of the bill. California Congressman Mike Levin will introduce the bill in the house.
Hyperventilating Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley lamented, “When I take a lungful of air in this moment, it has 30 percent more carbon in it than when I was born.”
So what? Carbon dioxide makes the plants grow and turn green. Plants depend on it. How much carbon dioxide is too much? My guess is that the concentration of carbon dioxide can get much, much higher before human beings even notice.
Unlike these hysterical dummies, most normal people place “global warming,” and “climate change” at the bottom of the list of things that worry them, and “cutting off ones nose to spite his face” does not seem to be the sensible thing to do.
The internal combustion engine has allowed America and the world to raise the standard of living for everyone. Doing away with it will never happen unless there is a scientific breakthrough where water can be used as a fuel.
But being “a little bit crazy” is not enough for Jeff Merkley. He wants, no demands, complete psychosis. “He supports the Green New Deal, and sees this bill as part of that broad vision of completely greening the United States’ economy. The Green New Deal calls for achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions within 10-years and dramatically expanding the welfare state.”
Unfortunately “climate change” hysteria is not confined to Democrats in Congress. This affliction has spread to young people who should know better but who have succumbed to the propaganda spread by the fake news and fake scientists.
“One young school teacher decided shortly after her marriage not to have children - not because she did not want them but because she felt she could not justify the climate damage caused by adding to the planet’s population.”
She is among a growing number of young people who have abandoned plans for a family out of concern about a looming climate change crisis. Personally, I applaud this woman’s decision not to have children because she is probably not smart enough to raise them. Leave the childbearing to others who have more sense and who can produce children who can carry on in the American tradition.
Democrats are depressed all the time because of some make-believe theory that they will die from climate change a hundred or two hundred years from now. Does this make sense? Democrats are afraid of extreme floods, droughts, storms and sea level rise, growing hunger, water shortages and poverty. Some have given up having children because they see a bleak future for their offspring.
If one wants to suffer from severe depression, join the Democrat Party. If you want a long and happy life, become a conservative. Your conscience won’t hurt at all when you take that jet plane to Hawaii for a vacation. And those jet engines will sound great burning that jet fuel and carrying you across the mighty Pacific.
You will not even think of a depressed Democrat who is sitting at home in the freezing cold contemplating death from too much carbon dioxide. I guarantee it.
