Do you remember the movie “The Music Man?” Do you recall Robert Preston singing those famous words, “Well, we’ve got trouble right her in River City?” That particular song keeps playing in my head as I watch Washington bureaucrats contort themselves into twisted blobs of shapeless protoplasm in a “go for broke” attempt to protect “Crooked Hillary.”
If you and I had done what Hillary has done, not only would we land in jail, but we may be under the jail. I’ve been reading Director Comey’s statement to the press, and if you don’t read it all, you might assume that the FBI is recommending that she be indicted.
Wrong! But all of us knew that this was going to happen. The first real clue was when Bill met with Loretta Lynch. We knew that there was more to that meeting than a discussion of grandchildren and the weather. Bill slithered into Loretta’s airplane to thank her for the work she had done to prevent his “little dumplin” from going to the big house.
I can just hear Bill saying, “Madam Attorney General, I just dropped by to say thanks for what you did. Hillary and I were worried there for a while, but once you got on the case, we knew everything was going to be fine. Hillary really, really thinks a lot of you. When she is elected president, good things are going to happen for you. Personally, I believe you would be a real good fit at the Supreme Court. Hillary told me that she would never, never again use a private e-mail server, and I believe her. That girl has made some mistakes in the past, but she is sorry for what she did. I just wanted you to know that, and thanks again for helping us with this little matter.”
By July 5, the secret of “no indictment” was a secret no more. Obama invited the “Crooked One” on Air Force One to go to North Carolina on a campaign trip. This act in and of itself revealed that he knew that there was not going to be an indictment long before James Comey made his confusing statement.
Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump agree on one important thing. “The system is rigged.” Many in the Sanders’ camp are openly acknowledging that this is the case. Unless Hillary can turn their thinking around, this just might be a problem for her. Either Sanders voters will stay home and not vote at all or many will pull the handle for Trump - not because they like him, but because they dislike Hillary.
What we saw on July 5 is the result of a “rigged system.” There is one set of laws for the common people, people like you and me, and there is another set for the elitists like Hillary. In fact, Hillary believes that she is above the law, so if she violates a little mundane statute that would throw us in jail if violated, so what?
I should note that individuals who have done what the “Crooked One” did cannot pass a background check. Therefore, they cannot hold a position with the federal government. In reality, the “Crooked One” should not be qualified to hold any federal office, the presidency included.
But everyone knew that Hillary would “skate,” so now what can we expect? Hillary’s legal problems with her email server may be behind her, but now she must face the political repercussions. Director Comey’s statement, while confusing, was powerful, filled with facts that showed that Hillary was reckless and endangered national security. According to Comey, over 100 classified e-mails are most likely in the hands of our enemies.
Like Robert Preston said in that great motion picture, “Well, we’ve got trouble right here in River City.” Hillary is reckless and dangerous, and the sooner we come to that realization, the sooner we will know what to do.
But all is not lost. There will be hundreds of lawsuits demanding that Hillary’s e-mails be made public. The Freedom of Information Act may still bring Hillary down. This could result in “death by a thousand cuts.”
There is little doubt that her “coronation” will be made more difficult by what was revealed in Comey’s statement.
