For those of you who say that there is a “great divide” in political thought in the United States, I must agree with you. Have you seen any of the Democrat debates? Most of the debates have centered on how much “stuff” the government can give away. Bernie wants a “single payer” health insurance program coupled with the fact that he wants to give everyone a free college education.
Hillary who is one step away from being criminally charged in her mishandling of top secret documents is just as bad. She wants everyone to know that she is a “progressive” who wants to level the “playing field,” especially for women. She believes that if she patronizes the female population long enough and hard enough that they will vote for her.
Bernie wants to raise the tax rate to 90 percent of your income. A bedazzled supporter asked Bernie how he could live on 10 percent of his income, and old Bernie replied, “Well, you will be getting all of this free stuff.” As amazing as this may seem, the supporter seemed to be more than satisfied with this response.
The Democrat Party has changed since John Kennedy was elected president. It has slowly evolved into a party that believes that an all powerful government that picks winners and losers is best for America. You as a citizen do not have the capacity to know how to take care of yourself, make a living, and support a family. Only the government has the capacity to do that.
Take for example the “free education” Bernie wants to make available. Do you believe that this will be free? Before you answer, let me give you some facts to consider. In order to provide this “free college education,” a new bureaucracy must be built and staffed with the right kind of people - socialists preferably. Then procedures and guidelines must be written that will govern the program.
There must be an application system devised and implemented. Students interested in receiving this “free education” must then fill out a detailed application. Next, ACT scores or other equivalent test scores must be submitted to a panel who will determine if, in fact, the applicant is “college material.” Only those with very high test scores will be accepted. If you are of normal intelligence, forget a college education. You will be encouraged to go to welding school, auto mechanics school, truck driver school, or plumbing school. Now there is absolutely nothing wrong with these professions, but that “free education” Bernie wants to “give away” will not be available to most students.
Then there is Hillary who hates the Second Amendment, wants to change it, and finally confiscate all fire arms. She, along with her fellow travelers in the Democrat Party, claim that “gun violence is skyrocketing.” The facts are that deaths from gun violence has dropped to an all-time low.
“More guns equal more murders,” she claims. The facts are as the number of guns owned has increased, the gun-homicide rate has plummeted.
Watching their supporters stand before them in awe, I wonder where all of this will end. We are heading down the road to a Soviet-style government which lasted a few years as a communist controlled country, then collapsed under its own weight. To see young people standing up to support a candidate like Bernie Sanders or Hillary Clinton does not give me faith in the future of our Republic. Do we not understand history? Do we not remember seeing the bread lines in the old Soviet Union?
To the Democrats who want a “progressive government,” I can only recite the old saying. “Be careful what you pray for because you just might get it.”
