William F. “Bill” Hawkins, 85, went to be with the Lord Monday morning at his home in Yazoo City.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Stricklin-King Funeral Home beginning at 9:30 a.m. followed by services at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Yazoo City. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Weir.
Mr. Hawkins was born January 19, 1931 in Weir. He attended Weir High School and graduated from Mississippi State University where he received his degree in accounting. He was the Vice President of Finance at Mississippi Chemical in Yazoo City until he retired 20 years ago.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Yazoo City, where he was a deacon and the church Treasurer for many years.
Daddy loved his Lord Jesus Christ and is now resting safely in his arms. Daddy loved his wife Adelaide and all his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and the rest of his family and devoted his life to caring for those he loved. Daddy loved fishing, hunting, wood working and quilting but most of all he loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Adelaide Ward Hawkins and his parents, L.D. and Mary Bell Hawkins.
Survivors include his children, Alan Hawkins (Terri) of Yazoo City and his daughter, Becky Beevers (Ronny)of Lexington; his grandchildren, Lillie Scott (Robby), and Will Williams of Cleveland and Hannah Hawkins of Starkville; great- grandchildren Ciercy Holcomb, Joely Holcomb and Wesley Williams; and two sisters, Gay Hunt (Dan) of Weir and Maureen Keyes of Richland.
He is also survived by his caretakers Annette Clark, Bernada Clark, Ellen Clark, Latrice Battle, Tedrick Clark, Tarrandan Morris and Tavarious Clark who all took loving care of Daddy.
Serving as pallbearers are Bill Reeves, David Crenshaw, Joe Crenshaw, Mark Ward, Herman Cooper and David Heath and Taylor Parks
