Vertie Lee Jones, 101, of Benton passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at The Martha Coker Green Houses in Yazoo City.
Funeral services were Friday at Midway Baptist Church with Rev. Dean Smith and Rev. Jessie Byrd officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
She was a Nursing Assistant at Martha Coker Convalescent Home and a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by, her husband; Henry Frank Jones; sisters, Nellie Lucille Parker and Katherine Lorene Niven; and her brother, Robert Benjamin Burell.
Survivors include her son, Billy R. Jones (Patricia) of Madison; grandson, Steve Jones (Tara) of Oxford; granddaughter, Becky Wallace (Robbie) of Clinton; great-grandson, Swayze Reed Jones; and great-granddaughter; Madison Elizabeth Jones.
Serving as pallbearers were Dewey Hood, Mike Burell, Sammy Niven, Jackie Niven and Chris Addison.
Honorary pallbearers were Marlin Stubblefield, George Davis, Clayton Davis, and David Ketchum.
The family would also like to say a special thank you the staff of The Love House at Martha Coker.
