Vaiden "V.O." Martin, 88, died May 27, 2016 in Vicksburg.
Funeral services were Monday at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Mr. Martin was born in Yazoo County to the late, V.C. and Lurline Martin. He was a longtime member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp and went on to work for Miller Transporters Inc. where he retired after 38 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Jennifer Hillman; brothers Harold and Hugh Martin and a sister, Martha Mae Klaus.
Survivors include his wife, Ada Lewis Martin; daughters, Pam (Joe) Powers of Hattiesburg; Deborah (Charlie) Whitefield of Lebanon Tenn.; Judy (Victor) Mello of Dallas Ga.; and son, Vaiden L. Martin of Clinton MS ; three grandchildren, Frank Burrell of Co.; Jessica Bibler of Ga. and Kelsey Whitefield of Tenn. ; Six great grandchildren, Alex, Peyton, Max, Cole, Adalyn, and Logan; and three great great grandchildren, Dawson; Oakley; and Lyric; Sister, Dot Aaron of Vicksburg and brothers L.H. Martin and Bill Martin of Yazoo County.
