Shelia Renee' Vaughn Shaffer, 44, transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 17, 2017, surrounded by family and friends, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson, MS.
Funeral services and repast were held on Friday, August 25, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, in Bentonia, MS, with Pastor Charles I. Bradley officiating. Internment followed in the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The funeral services and arrangements were entrusted to Shaffer and Collins Funeral Home in Yazoo City.
Mrs. Shelia Renee Vaughn Shaffer, the daughter of Minus and Martha Vaughn, was born on August 6, 1973 in Jackson Mississippi. She was the oldest child born to the union.
Shelia began her educational journey at Gibbs Elementary School. She graduated from Forest Hill High School, in Jackson, MS, in 1991. In 2006, she graduated from Belhaven College with a Bachelor's Degree in Business.
Shelia accepted Christ at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Johnson on August 18, 1983. Sheila also served under the leadership of Rev. Charles I. Bradley. She loved singing and served as a faithful member of the Health and Wellness Ministry, Choir, and she was a Deaconess.
On June 25, 1992, Shelia married the love of her life, Cailton N. Shaffer, II. To this union two children were born: Cailton Norwood Shaffer, III, and Cameron Lake Shaffer. Shelia had a genuine love for Christ and her family.
As a career woman, Shelia was employed at K-Mart, Dillard's, Delphi Packard Electric, and as a supervisor at Young Williams Child Support Call Center. Shelia was also very dedicated to the family business and served as the executive secretary for many years at Shaffer-Collins Funeral Home.
Shelia leaves to cherish her loving memories: a devoted husband: Cailton Norwood Shaffer, II; four children: Cailton Shaffer, III, Cameron Shaffer, Talyn Shaffer of Bentonia, MS, and Iesha Williams of Florence, Kentucky; one grandchild, Aryel Burdett of Florence, KY; parents, Minus Vaughn, Sr. and Martha Vaughn of Bentonia, MS; Mother-in-law, Wilma Styles Shaffer; grandmother, Christine (Nancy) Wilkerson; two brothers, Minus (Patricia) Vaughn, Jr., of Markham, IL, Michael (Lisa) Vaughn of South Holland, IL; two sisters, Maxine Vaughn of Calumet City, IL, and LaShondra Monique Vaughn of Bentonia, MS.
The active pallbearers for the funeral were Cailton Shaffer, II, Talyn Shaffer, Cameron Shaffer, Averial Shaffer, Dameon Roberts, Gregory Shaffer, Adrian Wilson, Kendrick Palmer, Todd Vaughn, and Joseph Vaughn. The Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church and and Yazoo County High School Football Coaches and Team.
