Sara Rainer Hines of Carter went home to be with the Lord June, 9, 2016. She lived a blessed life (by her own admittance) of 96 years filled with family and friends, both in abundance!
Visitation will be Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Josh Martin, Rev. James D. Elkin and Rev. Bill Poole officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Stricklin-King Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hines was born Feb. 28, 1920 in Yazoo City to the late Dr. and Mrs. James Thomas Rainer. She graduated from the University of Mississippi with a BME in Music and was a member of the Delta Delta Delta sorority.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church for 87 years where she was involved as a choir member, Sunday school teacher and in many other capacities.
She was the wife of Robert DeSha Hines for 59 years. They married February 11, 1945, the weekend Sha got a leave from the service. They lived and reared their family in Carter. She was a much beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She adored her family and devoted much time to making each one feel special.
Sara was known as a fabulous cook, voracious reader, an avid fisherman and a dedicated gardener. She was the epitome of a classic Southern lady.
Survivors include her daughters, Varner Stewart and Anne Sory of Ridgeland and Sara Jones (Bryan) of Cruger; two sons, Rob Hines (Brenda) and Thomas Hines of Ridgeland; 17 grandchildren, Brady Stewart (Kathryn), Sara Parks Stewart Martin (Josh), Susanna Stewart Levy (Mark), Byars Sory Martin (Stan), Sutton Sory Hibbert (Roger), Rainer Sory Sung (Alex), Alston Sory (Ashley), Sha Sory, B. Jones (Alyson), Jessie Jones Hornback (Joseph), Will Jones (Liza), Bob Hines (Carly), Peyton Hines (Brittany), Nettie Hines, Thomas Hines, Jr., Daniel Hines and James Hines; and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to give special thanks to her devoted doctor, Mark Meeks, to her gracious caregivers, Janet Ritch and Pat McDonald for their countless hours of loving service and to the friends she made and the care she received at The Blake at Township.

What can you say about such a wonderful lady? She was unique, sweet, smart, interesting and kind. What a joy she brought to so many as she gave us memories that will last a lifetime.
