Rosie Lee Walker Claybon, 79, died June 23, 2016 at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services were July 2 at King Solomon M.B. Church with Rev. Benjamin Hall, Rev. Calvin Collins, Rev. Bruce Nix and Rev. Willie Eugene Smith officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery under the direction of Century Funeral Home.
Mrs. Claybon was born Sept. 5, 1936 to Ross and Lola Walker. She was one of 14 children.
On April 13, 1953, she married Arthur Claybon Jr. To this union eight children were born: Mamie Dennis (Steve), Marilyn C. Hathorne (Allen), Rose C. Dean, Elnora Claybon (preceded her in death), Arthur Claybon III, Samuel J. Claybon, David P. Claybon and Bryant D. Claybon. They also raised a special nephew, Edward “Geno” Claybon, who preceded us in death.
In 1990 she became a certified nursing assistant and worked diligently for many years at the Care Inn until she became disabled. Here career as a CNA prepared her to use her skills as the primary caretaker for her husband until he passed in 2009. She was a beautiful woman who enjoyed cooking for her family.
In addition to her children she is survived by 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Anderson and Johnnie Hess of Chicago; a brother, James Walker of Yazoo City; a special niece, Geraldine Claybon; a sister-in-law, Mary Francis Morris; special cousin, Louis Williams; and a host of relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Walter Allen, Herman Boddy, Calvin Green, John Sutton, Gerald Woolfolk and Tony Woolfolk.
Honorary pallbearers were Arthur Claybon III, Bryant Claybon, David Claybon, Samuel J. Claybon, Christopher Dean, Rylyn Moore, John Earl Walker and Michael Walker.
