Robert Earl Kirk, 41 of Starkville, Mississippi died Friday, June, 5 2020.
Robert was born May 15, 1979 in Cleveland, Mississippi the son of Mary and Hal Kirk formerly of Cleveland, Mississippi. He married Tammie Stapp at First Presbyterian Church at Cleveland, Mississippi on November 3, 2007. They moved to Starkville in 2008 and they had their first son Gates in 2009 and Stapp in 2012.
Robert worked as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Lowndes County Schools in addition to his private practice. He was also the owner of East Mississippi Wholesale in Starkville. He received his Bachelor’s degree from University of Southern Mississippi and his Master’s from Mississippi State University.
Robert grew up loving the outdoors and continued to hunt and fish with anyone who was ready to go. He had a heart for all people young and old and was completely giving of his time to help anyone. He would often run late to a family function because someone needed their plants moved inside or there was a man on the side of the road who needed a hotel for the evening. He spent time at a local nursing home talking with people who did not have family in the area. He was passionate about spending time with his family and creating adventures and experiences to make lasting memories for his children. He taught both of his boys to ski at a young age. Robert was a former Youth Leader of First Presbyterian Church in Cleveland. Robert was an Eagle Scout and Boy Scout Troup leader. He continued to be active as an adult by helping to revive multiple scouting groups. He was most recently the leader of the active Trail Life Troop at Grace Presbyterian Church in Starkville.
Robert is survived by his wife Tammie and sons; Gates Perry and Stapp Herbert of Starkville, MS, sisters; Stacie Kirk Harris (Jim), Cleveland, Mississippi, Allison Kirk McCormick (Kevin), Southaven, Mississippi. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his parents. In addition to the traditional list of people that someone leaves behind, Robert also leaves behind a “second” set of parents, Janice and Jack Herbert Kirk of Yazoo City, MS and their daughters Lori Kirk Slay (Jack) and Lisa Kirk Selby (Hal) and their families.
A celebration of life service was held on June 7th at Adaton Baptist Church in Starkville followed by a graveside service at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in Yazoo City, MS where his mother, father, and many other beloved family members were laid to rest. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be sent to Concord Baptist Cemetery Fund at 610 Concord Church Road, Yazoo City, MS 39194.
